Training Course

This basic course is aimed at learners who have no (or limited) digital skills. The course aims to improve learner confidence using IT and give them the entry-level skills required to carry out basic online employee related tasks. The course can be used as a stepping stone for learners to develop their skills and progress into employment.

On this course you'll learn how to use Google Chrome to visit and use websites. The course will also show you how to login to your email account and use basic email tools.

About the Course

The course is delivered using a combination of 1-to-1 training sessions and self-paced online learning. Learners can use their own Laptop or Chromebook during the course.

Covid-19

The course is delivered in line with our Covid-19 Procedures.

Duration

The course is delivered on a 1-to-1 basis over 5 hours, eg 1 hour a week for 5 weeks.

Notes

Learners will receive a printed manual.

Certification

Learners who complete the course will receive a digital EC-PC Certificate.

Start Google Chrome
Close Google Chrome
Use the Restore Down tool
Use the Maximse tool
Use the Minimise tool
Visit a website by using a web address
Use hyperlinks
Use the Back tool
Use the scroll wheel to scroll down / up a web page
Use a drop-down menu
Close a tab
Open a tab
Use keywords to search for a website
Identify adverts within search results
Identify secure web pages

Sign in to a webmail account
Send an email
Read an email
Delete an email
Reply to an email
Follow a link within an email
View an attached file

Funding Opportunities

If you live in Scotland you could be eligible to apply for funding to pay for the course with an SDS Individual Training Account (ITA) from Skills Development Scotland.

You can apply for ITA funding if you are 16 or over and you are:

– unemployed and on benefits

– not working and have no income

– employed with an annual income less than £22,000

– self-employed with an annual income less than £22,000

You will not be eligible to apply for ITA funding if you are in education or involved in any other SDS funded programme.
