The EC-PC Office IT Intermediate User course is aimed at learners who need to demonstrate proficient IT skills in the workplace! The course will give learners intermediate skills to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook effectively. The course also covers general skills using Windows and working with files and folders.
The course consists of the following 4 online modules:
How will I learn?
You’ll learn by watching short video lessons. You’ll be able to download practice files and exercises. You’ll receive e-mail support from a EC-PC Tutor to answer any questions.
What are the course requirements?
You’ll need to have access to a Windows PC, with an internet connection, preferably installed with an up-to-date version of Microsoft Office. The free online version of Microsoft Outlook is used during the course – you will need a Microsoft account to be able to login to outlook.com. If you do not have Microsoft Office installed on your PC then we can provide a 4 month licence at no additional cost.
Will I receive a certificate?
You’ll be given an online assessment for each module. Learners who pass all 4 module assessments will obtain the EC-PC Office IT Intermediate User Certificate. As a current offer we are also giving learners the chance to obtain the following SQA qualification: SQA Communication in Administration Level 4.
When does the course start?
The course has a flexible start date – you can join the course at any time.
The course modules are being published in the following phases:
Module 1 – Microsoft Excel

Module 2 – Microsoft Word
(present – 18th January)
Module 3 – Microsoft Outlook
(18th January – 30th January)
Module 4 – Windows, Files and Folders
(1st February – 12th February)
How long does it take to complete the course?
You’ll work through the lessons for each module at your own pace. As a rough estimate if you complete a few lessons a day then the course would take a few months to complete.
